Copy us... or twin with us.

We're the
Conservation Council of Ontario, a province-wide association of
organizations, businesses, municipalities, and individuals dedicated to conservation and a healthy
environment.
Our
mission is to make Ontario a conserver society.
To
achieve this goal, our primary strategy is to foster a united
conservation movement.
To the best of our
knowledge, we are unique. We know of no other Council,
secretariat, or lead agency with a mandate to develop an integrated
multi-sector voluntary transition strategy.
We've still got a long way to go in
Ontario, and we are still a small organization, but we're
interested in finding others who think and work the same way.
We'd like to start a global community of practice around
"voluntary transition strategies".
If you are part of a provincial,
state or country that is undertaking a similar comprehensive
voluntary transition strategy, please let us know. We'd
love to twin with you and put you on our map.
If you'd like to set up a similar
initiative, be prepared for a lot of work. We'd be happy to
share our experiences with you, and our resources as well.
Please drop me a
line.

What we are looking for... |
| |
 |
a clear mandate in support of the transition to a conserver,
or green, society |
 |
preferably a non-governmental lead, secretariat, or council |
 |
government support and multi-sector sponsorship |
 |
widespread support from all sectors
|
 |
community networks, action plans, and lead organizations |
 |
upper-level networks and lead organizations
|
 |
solutions-based collaborative campaigns |
 |
movement building tools (such as common branding, catalytic
projects, and online directories) |
 |
integrated funding mechanisms |
 |
online documentation of the movement and resources |
 |
open sharing of resources |
|
| |
What we are not
looking for... |
| |
 |
policy campaigns |
 |
social marketing campaigns |
 |
individual voluntary change campaigns, or |
 |
any other single component of an integrated strategy |
In short, we're looking to find
places that have made a true commitment to voluntary change, much
like what is happening at a local level, but now at a provincial,
state, regional, or national level. |
