Dear Friends,
I need a thousand of you – the
Ontario Friends of Conservation – who are willing to put up $100 or $500 dollars
to help make Ontario a conserver society.
Chances are you are already
contributing over 1% of your
annual income already to conservation, whether through energy
conservation, renewable power, local sustainable food, transportation
alternatives, or in supporting green businesses.
Now I need you to invest in a
conserver society.
Why us, why now? The
simple answer is that we have designed a better mousetrap, a better way to solve
environmental problems.
I don’t know about you, but I’m
tired of seeing lists of the top ten things you can do to save the environment
(including check your tire pressure, flick off lights, and fill your
dishwasher). They trivialize individual action and then ask you to send
money to support lobbying for stronger policy.
Our approach starts with
individuals – people all across Ontario that believe in conservation and are
looking for help. We help people develop their own personal conservation
plan. We work with local groups, businesses and municipalities to build
conservation action networks to help people adopt conservation solutions.
And we partner with lead organizations to develop campaigns and support
programs.
Our approach is to build a
united conservation movement. And guess what.
If we all work together and say
“I conserve”, we’ll actually stand a much better chance of convincing those
policy makers to give us some better incentives for conservation.
With your support as an Ontario
Friend of Conservation, I can help make Ontario a conserver society. We
might not be able to stave off future environmental and resource crises, but we
will lay the foundation for a healthier and sustainable future.
Please make a pledge now –
either one-time or a regular monthly contribution – and challenge your friends
and colleagues to do the same.
With thanks,
Chris Winter
