1.  Building a Conservation Movement
The CCO has produced several reports and strategy papers related to building a stronger conservation movement. The more recent ones relate to the We Conserve initiative, which is taking these recommendations and putting them into practice.

Greening Ontario: A Strategy for Revitalizing the Conservation Movement
(June 2003)
   
This strategy paper outlined an approach for building a stronger non-governmental conservation movement. It was prepared following an Eco Summit in 2002 and preceded the blackout of August 14, 2003 that put conservation back on the map in Ontario.

 

We Conserve -- Implementing the Strategy

Ontario's Conservation Summit 2004: Challenge Paper
This paper is a who-does-what listing of NGO conservation programs.  it was prepared as a backgrounder for the first conservation summit in November 2004

We Conserve (July 2005)
Next, in 2005, we launched We Conserve as our flagship campaign to promote a united movement.

A year later, "Are you in" laid out a five year plan for shifting Ontario onto the conserver society path. 

 

 

We're continually refining our strategy, based on our on-the-ground experience and new emerging opportunities.

 

We Conserve: Progress Report #1 (November, 2005)
This report reviews our early successes in building a stronger conservation movement, and outlines an ambitious five year agenda.

Conservation Summit 2009 Workbook and Progress Report (December, 2004)
Prepared for the fourth Conservation Summit, the workbook includes an assessment of Ontario's conservation capacity -- highlighting many of the barriers yet to be overcome.

2.  Missing Values
In the late 1990's, the CCO initiated a series of reports that analyzed and compared the commitments of Ministry Business Plans with their Statements of Environmental Values.  The reports highlighted weaknesses in the government's ability to integrate environmental values into its annual planning and priorities.
