greenontario
Our base is
Ontario, Canada. The Conservation Council of
Ontario is in the middle of re-inventing itself as the
secretariat for a united conservation movement for our
province.
-
We have
expanded membership categories to include business
and municipalities
-
we have
developed a five year plan and quick start guide for
a conservation movement in Ontario
-
we are
applying the "distributed leadership model", finding
allies and partners that can help promote
conservation to their members ad constituents
-
we have
initiated an Ontario Friends of Conservation to
raise public support for the movement
-
we will
be working with municipalities to establish local
conservation action networks as a first step to
promoting voluntary transition strategies at the
local level.
We will also
be updating our 13 year old website,
www.greenontario.org, the first online environmental
directory and clearinghouse in Ontario, and still one of
the best known sources for information on environmental
and conservation solutions.
Start a
Movement
For those of you who are
from outside Ontario, wouldn't it be nice if you had a
united conservation movement too? Imagine, a
coordinated effort to make it as easy as possible for
everyone to live green and live better.
From the tools and documents
on this website, you can begin to assess the possibility
of starting a mirror initiative in your jurisdiction,
starting with a secretariat, online directory and a map
of the major networks, umbrella associations and lead
organizations that would be instrumental in helping pull
together a united movement.
